There's no easy answer to this question since it varies from one insurance company to another. You'd think the best driver should be the one who's never been in an accident, and has had no parking or speeding tickets. But both driving and nondriving variables are factored in. Not only will the insurance company look at your driving history but they'll also consider what job you have, where you live, your credit history, age, marital status, etc.
That said, in general you should ask for a Good Driver Discount (20%) if you've had your drivers licence for at least 3 years, have had no more than one violation point, have not been at fault or involved in any accident and not been convicted of DUI in the past 7 years.
But whatever your job, age or credit score might be, you will benefit if you're a responsible driver. A good driver record will eventually mean a lower auto insurance rate and save you a lot of money each year.
